An eight-episode Netflix hero drama based on the Kakao Webtoon of the same name, Cashero follows what happens when Kang Sang-ung, an ordinary civil servant saving up to get married, gains a power that makes him stronger in proportion to the cash he holds, except that the cash disappears the more he uses it.
Netflix released all eight episodes at once on December 26, 2025. The Netflix Korea page lists it as a 2025 limited series rated 15+. The title is a blend of the words cash and hero. Netflix officially confirmed the production in April 2024, along with the casting of Lee Jun-ho, Kim Hye-jun, Kim Byung-chul and Kim Hyang-gi. In its second week, from December 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026, it ranked first in the global non-English TV category of Netflix's weekly chart with 6.1 million views (total hours viewed divided by the runtime), and it made the Top 10 in 51 countries that same week.
The series was directed by Lee Chang-min, who made JTBC's Welcome to Waikiki (2018) and Agency (2023), and written by Lee Jane and Jeon Chan-ho, who co-wrote JTBC's Sisyphus: The Myth (2021). At the launch press conference on December 22, 2025, Lee called it a project he had put a great deal of care into over a long period, saying he thought of the characters' superpowers as something between a curse and a gift, and that he wanted to set it apart from existing superhero stories by making it not about heroes fighting one another but about ordinary people fighting back with their own abilities.
Lee Jun-ho plays Kang Sang-ung, and Kim Hye-jun plays Kim Min-suk, his girlfriend of nine years, who values efficiency above everything. In episode 1, as Sang-ung struggles to afford a home to share with Min-suk, he inherits from his father a power that makes him stronger when he holds cash, and finds himself in a situation where his savings shrink every time he helps someone. In episode 2, someone appears who has Sang-ung and Min-suk in their sights. Kim Byung-chul plays Byeon Ho-in, who can pass through anything when he drinks, and Kim Hyang-gi plays Bang Eun-mi, who can use telekinesis when she takes in calories, as fellow superhumans, while Lee Chae-min, Kang Han-na and Kim Eui-sung play Jo Nathan, Jo Anna and Jo Won-do of the Mundane Vanguard, an organization that preys on superhumans.
At the same press conference, Lee Jun-ho described Sang-ung as a man caught in a dilemma every day: he is about to get married and needs to find a home and earn a living, yet he has to spend money every time he uses his strength for others, making him a hero you can't help feeling sorry for. Kim Hye-jun said that her memories of filming the 2017 drama Just Between Lovers with Lee Jun-ho helped her play a couple who have been together for nine years with ease. In this series, Lee Jun-ho reunites with Kim Hye-jun and Kang Han-na, both of whom appeared with him in Just Between Lovers.
