Kyojo, in two parts β€” Netflix first, theaters second

The new installment of the Kyojo series starring Takuya Kimura was released in two parts. The first, Kyojo Reunion, premiered on Netflix on January 1; the second, Kyojo Requiem, opened in theaters on February 20, debuted at number one at the weekend box office and grossed Β₯1.28 billion in its first ten days.

Golden Kamuy -The Abashiri Prison Raid-

The sequel in the live-action series based on Satoru Noda's manga opened on March 13. Set in Hokkaido at the end of the Meiji era, it follows the scramble for a hoard of Ainu gold.

This Is I β€” a Netflix exclusive

Released worldwide on Netflix on February 10, the film tells the story of TV personality Ai Haruna's life alongside that of Koji Wada, the plastic surgeon who performed her gender-affirming surgery.

Directed by Yusaku Matsumoto from a project by Osamu Suzuki, it stars Haruki Mochizuki as Ai and Takumi Saitoh as Wada.

The Convenience Store β€” horror based on an indie game

This horror film adapts the indie game of the same name by developer Chilla's Art. A night-shift convenience store worker is caught up in strange events surrounding her manager's disappearance and a mysterious SD card. It later entered Netflix's weekly Top 10 in Japan after the quarter ended.
